About Greensmith

Robert E. "Bob" Smith was born March 27, 1941, to James and Faye Smith. He attended Texas Tech University where he excelled in athletics as the captain of the swim team. He met the love of his life, Samye (Goodson), on campus. Upon meeting his beautiful bride and loving wife, Bob returned to his dorm room and told his roommate, "Today I met the girl I'm going to marry." Together they traveled America, with particular fondness for Colorado and all National Parks; opened and worked alongside one another in many businesses; and danced to Zydeco music all across Louisiana and Texas. Since 1965 Bob was the proud owner and operator of his plant nursery, Smith Nursery, in Liverpool for 56 years; and his legacy of hard work, integrity, and beautiful plants and flowers will continue on there. He was an avid fisherman, a skilled photographer, and a devoted Christian. Bob was a good man, loving husband and father, beloved member of the community; and he will be greatly missed. Since his passing Smith Nursery was renamed Greensmith Nursery. Our mission statement is to continue producing beautiful plants and flowers, work with integrity, and continuing Bob Smith’s Legacy. We continue with some of the same longtime employees of 25+ years. Rick started as a general laborer, was promoted multiple times, eventually the salesman, now he has reached full circle as Manager. Rick met his wife while working at the nursery and she is a consultant. Maria started as a general Laborer, was promoted multiple times, and now is Field Supervisor. She is the best.
